Watchmen

I am obsessed with the Watchmen movie right now. every day I'll scope the net for new info and clips. But I wouldn't care about the movie if I didn't love the source material. I read the graphic novel when i was 11. It was heavy. I remember reading it in the back of my father's pick up truck on a trip to visit my grandmother in Pennsylvania. It was heavy, man. I didn't know what it all meant but i know it meant SOMETHING. It was more than just a comic..I realize now that it was my first experience with true literature. Now I've read it a few times and I know the themes and metaphors. It's No wonder that the New York Times listed it as one of the best novels of the 20th century.

When you think of Ray Charles you think pop singer or maybe even a blues or r&b guy. But listening to the Pure Genius box set I have to say he was a pretty good Jazz guy. Just because he had commercial success in the pop medium doesn't mean that is the on;y avenue of his career to explore. The guy had jazz chops in spades..
